"wondered whether anyone has thought about whether abortion is torture or not. The debate always goes back to when does life start? Is it torture.."

From: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20090610/OPINION04/906100340/1038/Opinion:

As I read the May 26 letters to the editor regarding torture, especially the letters that talked about the legality of it, I wondered whether anyone has thought about whether abortion is torture or not. The debate always goes back to when does life start?

Is it torture for those women who realized too late that they just terminated a life inside their body? Many women have regretted and then have to live with that mistake. Ask any of those women whether that is torture. It lasts for more than 40 seconds, and there is no one standing by to rescue them except God.

One letter even stated...

"Orders are often placed specifying that an organ must be procured from a living, aborted baby! Use of certain chemicals might harm a desired organ."

This is horrible!

From http://www.unbornintheusa.org/pages/P_bodyparts.htm:

Under the radar: The lucrative sale of fetal body parts:
The largest unregulated industry in our nation, the abortion industry, and its collaborators in the medical research fields have found a way around the law to profit from illegal trafficing of human fetal tissues. This goulish practice has been exposed on national TV, and the U.S. House of Representatives held hearings on the matter. But if you know how the game is played, you can safely participate in the thriving fetal body parts business without violating the guidlines of the National Institute of Health or being penalized by the feds.

Follow the money trail around the law:
1. Abortion clinics receive a large part of the $250 million taxpayer funding for "family planning" services every year. This money buys contraceptive drugs and devices designed to kill an embryo of 5 to 7 days.

2. Pregnant mothers contribute to clinic profits in a big way. Sadly, most donate their aborted babies after being told, "What you carry inside you is merely a glob of tissue...and that same fetal tissue could help researchers preserve another life." About 75% of women agree to such a donation in this context.

3. Selling human tissue is against federal law. But body parts wholesalers work around this by placing an employee on site at the clinic to train and oversee the collection of fetal material they desire. They then pay the clinic a "site fee" in return for the value of the body parts removed from the clinic. Most orders for fetal material are for healthy tissue--no abnormalities, please! The more fully formed, the more desirable they are for research purposes.
Orders are often placed specifying that an organ must be procured from a living, aborted baby! Use of certain chemicals might harm a desired organ.

"Majority identifies with pro-life because abortions are barbaric"

From: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/opinion/todaysbuzz/monday/sfl-abortion-gallup-pregnancy-buzz-fins-m051809,0,3848711.story
Of course a majority of Americans identifies itself with the pro-life movement.

We've been seeing that for years. In Florida five years ago, a state constitutional amendment giving parents a say in their child's abortion decision passed with a landslide vote.

Here's what it comes down to: An abortion is a barbaric procedure. And it can be avoided with proper education about abstinence and birth control. Not to mention that risky behavior that leads to unwanted pregnancies also leads to serious and potentially fatal STDs.

...

A Gallup Poll released Friday found that 51 percent of Americans now call themselves pro-life rather than pro-choice on the issue of abortion, the first time a majority gave that answer in the 15 years that Gallup has asked the question.
